'Story of Hope': How Tech Influencer Got Back His Lost iPhone, Xiaomi Civi 2 at Delhi's Jama Masjid

In what can only be considered a stroke of luck, a tech influencer, known as ‘Tech Star Shahrukh’, shared a story about losing and then miraculously finding his iPhone 13 and Xiaomi Civi 2 at Delhi’s Jama Masjid. He recounted how, during a visit to the mosque for Ramadan iftar with his wife, they were carrying three smartphones: an Apple iPhone 13, a Xiaomi Civi 2, and a Redmi K50 Ultra. However, upon leaving, they realised that the compartment in their bag containing two phones – the iPhone and the Xiaomi – was open, and the devices were missing.

Shahrukh quickly realised his mistake, admitting, “What my mistake was, There was announcements going on all over the area about thieves, I ignored. My Wife told me to keep bag on my chest, I ignored. At one point even my wife asked me to give her my bag, I ignored that!” Despite this, he decided to use his tech knowledge to try to recover the phone.

Although he couldn’t track his iPhone since it was switched off, he was surprised to find that his Xiaomi phone was still on, likely because he remembered turning it on due to its “Shutdown Confirmation” feature, which requires a password for device shutdown. This detail turned out to be crucial.

Using the “Find My Device” function on the Xiaomi website, Shahrukh successfully located the missing phone. The phone started ringing loudly, leading to its discovery near Gate No. 2 of Jama Masjid. “The Xiaomi CIVI 2 Successfully started Sounding…The thieves can’t silence it no matter what. They surely had tried different ways like in this video. But they totally failed to silence the Alarm and it could have scared them !!” he mentioned.

Although he couldn’t hear the sound due to the crowd, someone picked up the call and directed him to Gate No. 2, where he was reunited with his phones.

Then, something remarkable happened. As Shahrukh put it, “When I met him he returned both of my phones. Civi 2 as Well as iPhone 13. Civi 2 was still sounding Alarm. He told me that he found my phone somewhere on the ground. I took my phone and thanked him and didn’t question him much.”

It seemed like his phone was destined to be returned to him, or perhaps it was all thanks to his tactics.
