A video is gaining attention on social media, where an Indian woman visited a part of China, selling dog meat openly.

The video was shared on Instagram by an account called @wanderingwithpaint, which belongs to the influencer Garima Bakshi. The short clip posted captures her visiting a place in China, showing the viewers how dog meat is sold openly on the streets, also a favourite of the locals.

When Garima goes around a corner, where a man is cooking a suspicious-looking meat dish, she asks her Chinese friend named Vicky, “Vicky, what is that?” She replies, “It is dog meat.” The man is cooking a good amount of the meat in a huge pan, continuously stirring it. She then takes the camera to a truck, revealing a cage where dogs are imprisoned.

Garima then converses with Vicky again about more details on dog meat consumption. According to her, not all the population prefer meat but some locals, amounting to 20 per cent to 30 per cent of them. Garima then replies, “It is changing now, people are stopping, and many people are now not eating.” She meets an elderly Chinese woman, asking her if she likes the meat, to which the woman simply replies with, “Delicious,” in Mandarin. The caption on the post reads, “Dog Meat is a common food in Southern Part of China in many cultures. You can find the same thing in many other countries like Thailand, Vietnam, India etc.”
