Sleepmaxxing encourages people to seek ideal sleep by eliminating distractions and improving their sleeping conditions.

We humans need an adequate amount of sleep to help our brain function and maintain our physical health. But in today’s fast-paced world getting an uninterrupted sleep of at least 6 to 8 hours seems difficult. The pressure of work life and the influence of technology have created an environment where productivity is more important than relaxation. This has led to sleep-related issues, especially among youngsters worldwide.

Therefore, to maintain a good sleep cycle, people use various methods. Among them is ‘Sleepmaxxing,’ a recent trend that many are taking part in to fix their sleep cycle. The method encourages people to seek ideal sleep by eliminating distractions and improving their sleeping conditions.

Sleepmaxxing includes several gadgets and supplements to help people get an adequate amount of uninterrupted sleep. These include modern devices, from magnesium spray to chin straps, foot spray, mouth tape and sleep trackers.

But is it safe? Well, as per the experts, it depends on the method it is used. Vanessa Hill, a behavioural sleep scientist at the Appleton Institute, told The New York Times that probably none of these are going to help you get a better night’s sleep. “The most important thing is that you feel comfortable. So if some of these things make you feel more comfortable, that’s great,” Hill added.

However, some studies have found mouth taping to be useful for people with sleep apnea, its effect on persons who do not have breathing problems is unknown, as per The New York Times.

Several videos suggest that using special technology can improve deep sleep by up to 34 percent.

However, as per experts, Sleepmaxxing could also have some negative effects on your body such as Orthosomnia, an unhealthy obsession with getting proper sleep.

As sleepmaxxing becomes more popular among people, companies are boosting their manufacture of gadgets to meet the increased demand. Wearable goods and smart sleep solutions are now widely available in the market. One such example is the AI-powered Neurotechnoli headband, which is supposed to use brain waves to block out ambient noises for better sleep.

Do you use any such gadgets to get a proper sleep?

What's your reaction?
