Generally, when searching for a rental property, people consider it to be affordable as well as comfy irrespective of whether they live alone or are staying with others. In most cases, a person living by themselves is content with a small house equipped with basic amenities. But a recent story of a person living in Central London stirred the internet with the exorbitant rent of an extremely small house.
A video was uploaded on X by social media user @instablog9ja. It shows a home in London. What stuns the users is the incredibly high prices of the property. This house is located in Central London, which is known as one of the fanciest parts of the city.
Considering London’s status as the priciest city in Britain, it’s not surprising that this compact house carries a hefty price tag. Despite its basic amenities such as a kitchen, bathroom, shelves, a balcony and good ventilation, this house in Central London is causing a stir online.

The video was shot by a woman. Inside the house, there’s a small room on the left side with a bed and a TV attached to the wall. Additionally, there’s a small shelf in the room. Moving forward, there’s a tiny bathroom. The room is even smaller than a garage. In the video, it was mentioned that the rent for this room is £1,850, which is more than Rs 1.9 lakh.
The caption of the post reads, “London resident gives a tour of his £1,850 per month apartment”. Several social media users have commented on the video.
One user wrote, “I was hoping to see an exquisitely furnished and spacious apartment. Living abroad is a scam. If you have money, stay in Nigeria and enjoy your money.” Another user added, “Everyone wants to live in London whereas there are other places one can live comfortably in the UK. “This can’t be true,” wrote another user.
Some time back, residents of Brighton voiced their frustration with the steep rental prices in the city. It has earned the nickname Little London due to its comparable high costs of living.
A study of over 50,000 renters revealed that Brighton is the most expensive city in England for renters. On average, renters are spending a huge 56.9% of their wages just on rent.
