Pune Cafe's Bizarre List of Don'ts Goes Viral and Desi Twitter Has a Lot of Burning Questions
A menu card from Pune's Irani Cafe went viral on Twitter for its bizarre list of what one shouldn't do once they were at the eatery. Yep, you can't stick your gum under the table.

Do you ever look at a signboard or a warning someplace and wonder there has to be a story behind it? Well, this menu card from Pune has hundreds of netizens wondering what chain of events led to the current day where a restaurant felt the need to put these things as a warning on a menu card. The ubiquitous ‘no smoking’ warning is probably the only recognisable offence on the card. Some of them feel sensible as if they should totally be a rule in restaurants (like no gum under the table), while some will leave you puzzled (like no brushing teeth).

We wonder, how many people defiled this restaurant’s wash-basin (we hope not the tables) by brushing their teeth in public display that the frustrated owner had to issue a warning. There’re also no laptops or playing video games on mobile phones, which is a polite thing to do when hanging out in groups. But, if you were looking for a Starbucks experience (getting some work done with some food), then this probably isn’t the place for you.

Another thing you cannot do in this Irani Café is 'go to sleep'. But it makes us curious to know if the food is so filling or the vibe there so calm that people are often falling asleep. If you’re on a budget and you want to use coupons or do some bargaining with the bill or ask for credit — that’s not allowed either. If you’re in a group of friends and want to discuss your life in the open, be loud and merry or ‘laugh out loud’, that’s all strictly prohibited.

If you’re one of the money-saving people who sneak in outside food to movie theatres and restaurants — go away while you still have the chance. You cannot comb your hair here, or discuss your IPL bets as talking about gambling is prohibited. The other rules in the list include matchsticks, no legs on the chair, no asking for change.

But this warning takes away the cake — no flirting with the cashier! Wonder how many flirty customers made the cashier (him or her) so uncomfortable with repeated romantic advances that it had to be put up as a warning. If you’re a life-coach type personality, better stay quiet here because free advice is not allowed.

People, as expected, are going ga-ga over these signs.

Which point is your favourite on this restaurant’s list?
