KOCHI: After a gap of 16 days, the cardamom auction in the state resumed on Tuesday at the Spices Park, Puttady, Idukki. According to the Spices Board, the auction centre reported good turnout of cardamom dealers, including those from Tamil Nadu. The auctioneers - South India Green Cardamom Company - put on offer 102 tonnes of cardamom of which around 60 per cent got sold out by afternoon. The average price at the auction touched `542 per kg at noon as against the average price of `472.04 recorded at the auction in Bodi on December 5. P M Suresh Kumar, Director (Marketing), Spices Board, supervised the auction. There has been movement of cardamom sold out in the last auctions from Kumily to Bodi. “The next auction will be conducted again in Puttady on Wednesday by the CPMC. The auctions on Thursday will be conducted by Header in Bodi, on Friday by MAS Enterprises at Puttady, on Saturday by Green House Cardamom Marketing Ltd at Bodi, on Sunday by KCPMC at Puttady and on Monday at Bodi by CPA Santhampara in the forenoon and by STCL in the afternoon,” said an official communication from the Spices Board.
