Several celebs have come forward to slam Poonam Pandey for her fake death publicly stunt.

Poonam Pandey is alive. The Lock Upp fame finally came out in a video statement on Saturday morning and clarified that she is not dead. In the video, Poonam argued that the motive of her death news was to create awareness regarding cervical cancer. In the light of this, netizens across the country are expressing their anger over a prank that involved death. The celeb industry also has some reactions on this news.

Actress and ex Bigg Boss OTT contestant Pooja Bhatt wrote, “I never delete tweets but did so in the case where I expressed my shock at news of Poonam Pandey’s demise due to cervical cancer. Why? Turns out the news was engineered by a digital/PR team. Absolute disgrace & disservice to those battling the same-her included. .”

Urvashi Dholakia wrote, “This is the lowest advertising and marketing could stoop to! Yes,

cervical cancer is an important subject to be educated upon but this publicity stunt was downright disgusting!”

Aly Goni shared his thoughts on both X and Instagram. He wrote, “F**king cheap publicity stunt it was nothing else.. u guys think it’s funny ? U and ur PR team should be boycotted I swear.. bloody losers and to all the media portals we people here trust u that’s y we believed it.. shame on u all..”

Nikki Tamboli wrote, “Absolute cheapness ! It’s disheartening to witness the depths some individuals will sink to for a momentary spotlight. Faking one’s death, especially in the context of a serious illness like cancer, is not just tasteless but downright disrespectful. It trivializes the very real struggles that millions face worldwide and breaks the trust of those who genuinely care. Let’s not reward such attention-seeking behavior with our attention. This is a mockery of a genuine suffering and a slap in the face to all those who have battled or are battling such conditions. This shameless stunt is a stain on their character, and the teams responsible should be held accountable for their shameful actions.”

Rahul Vaidya shared, “And I was right!! Now that poonam is alive I can surely say RIP PR/ marketing. New low of creating a sensational/viral campaign .. welcome to KALYUG.”

Jawan actress Ridhi Dogra stated, “Faking death for awareness May seem like a winner idea for those who came up with it!!! But it’s pathetic and disgusting to share it as news. Without fact checking or any research, absolutely irresponsible. It’s just wrong. And scary that people will lap up anything you sell them in the name of breaking news because they trust you with the information coming from you. But now wait for the apologies from your ‘all the sources you think are you center point for the latest and correct news.'”

Vivek Agnihotri expressed, “With the emerging challenges of SM, I think there should be some regulations, specially, for the newsmakers and those who call themselves influencers.

Normalising sensationalism and gimmicks is dangerous. Fake death news is just the beginning. Aage aage dekho hota hai kya. If it was a strategy, then I’d say it’s a very bad strategy. Now everyone has forgotten about such an important issue like ‘Cervical Cancer’ and they are focussed on the pathetic gimmick.”

Expressing her vehement disapproval because the actress had lost a very close one due to cancer and expressing her anger Jyoti says, “This is one of the worst media strategies anyone could ever employ. Exploiting the tragedy of cervical cancer death for cheap publicity is not just acceptable at all; it’s downright disgusting. Cancer is a serious and sensitive subject, and using it as a tool for publicity is not only unethical but also harmful to the minds of young people.”

“Spreading fake awareness on a matter as grave as cancer is a dangerous game. It not only creates unnecessary panic and fear but also dilutes the real issues at hand. We should be working towards genuine awareness. Celebrities’ social media accounts are used to spread awareness but not such cheap awareness as Poonam Pandey and her team did, grow up morons. I feel pity for her for what all she had to do for the sake of money”.

Celeb photographer and producer Atul Kasbekar wrote, “The s*it people do to try and stay relevant…‍♂️.”

“I am alive. I did not die because of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer. It is not because they couldn’t do anything about it but because they had no idea what to do about it. I am here to tell you that, unlike other cancers, cervical cancer is preventable. All you have to do is, you have to get your tests done and you have to get HPV vaccine,” Poonam Panday revealed in a video.

Poonam Pandey’s ‘death’ news was first announced in a post shared on her official Instagram handle on Friday, February 2. “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared,” the post read.

Following the news, several celebrities including Kangana Ranaut and Anupam Kher took to their respective X handle to pay their tributes to the actress. However, Poonam’s sudden demise had also left the nation confused and many had already argued that it was nothing but a publicity stunt. Several people took to social media on Friday to post that the actress didn’t “look sick” and that sudden deaths are uncommon for cervical cancer patients.
