Navratri Day 6: PM Narendra Modi Seeks Blessings of Maa Katyayani
Maa Katyayani is the sixth of the nine forms of Durga, worshipped during the Navratri festival.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday offered prayer to Maa Katyayani, the Warrior Goddess who embodies the fiercest aspect of Goddess Durga. Taking to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, he also shared Stuti dedicated to Maa Katyayani.

Maa Katyayani is the sixth of the nine forms of Durga, worshipped during the Navratri festival. Her name is derived from the sage Katyayana, who performed a penance to seek her blessings. She is depicted as a beautiful woman with four arms, riding a lion. Her hands hold a sword, a lotus flower, a trident, and a mace.

On the sixth day of Navratri, devotees wake up early and take a bath. They then perform a puja to Katyayani, offering her flowers, fruits, and sweets. They also recite the Katyayani Chalisa, a hymn in praise of the goddess. Some devotees also observe a fast on this day. The fast is broken after the evening puja, when devotees eat a meal of fruits and vegetables.
