2019 Jeep Renegade Facelift to Arrive in September
Bigger changes are set to take place inside the little Jeep, where there will be a larger infotainment screen replacing the current 6.5-inch unit, which will also take the place of the buttons and other controls that surround the screen at the moment.

The Jeep Cherokee was recently unveiled in its refreshed 2019 model year form at the Detroit Auto Show, and according to Autocar in the UK, the Renegade will be the next Jeep model to benefit from a mild refresh for 2019 with some modest changes to its exterior styling and a raft of new technology inside.

It's probably not unfair to say the subcompact crossover has been something of a surprise success story for Jeep, especially in Europe where the brand has struggled during 2017. The Fiat 500-based Renegade will probably get some revised LED daytime running lights and a few other tweaks here and there on the outside. But the spy shots of the new models that have been leaked so far appear to show that much of its retro-look will be retained, which is probably wise as the styling has to have been largely responsible for the Renegade's continuing popularity with buyers.

Bigger changes are set to take place inside the little Jeep, where there will be a larger infotainment screen replacing the current 6.5-inch unit, which will also take the place of the buttons and other controls that surround the screen at the moment. The new screen will remain housed in the shaped surround it has now, which means it won't be occupying any more dashboard space than it does already.

The largest development with the new model will be a 48-volt mild hybrid propulsion system based around a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which will eventually be offered in every vehicle in Jeep's lineup. And by the end of the decade, Jeep plans for every model, including the Renegade, to also have a plug-in hybrid variant available.

Although Jeep hasn't revealed exactly which motor show the new Renegade will be revealed at, the production vehicle has been confirmed as going on sale in Europe in September of this year, which suggests it will make its debut at a show in the first half of 2018.

Mike Manley, Jeep's CEO, said in an interview with Autocar, "With the Renegade growing in Europe, we are where we want to be. We have yet to complete the European rollout of the Compass, which is in Europe's biggest segment. In 2018, I'm looking for significant growth on 2017."
