Pune Mumbai Expressway : Authorities to Need 100-hectare of Land to Make 8-laning Corridor

In a move to transform a six-lane expressway into an eight-lane corridor to improve traffic situations, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is expected to need around 100 hectares, which will be purchased from any private party, forest department, and other organizations.

It has been reported that the step will be taken to reduce road traffic in the city, allowing commuters to expirence a seamless travel experience on less congested roads. The project is expected to be complete by 2026, and will provide the benefits to the commuters.

Pune Mumbai Expressway Expansion

As per the details shared by My Pune Pulsen, MSRDC’s official statement says that the budget proposal for widening the expressway will be sent to the state government next week. After getting the budget allocation and a satisfactory response about the same, things will start aligning as planned.

The fund is expected to be sanctioned in two stages. Once approved, the corpus will be paid for both the purchasing of land and building costs.

It also has been informed that the stretch of 94 km long highway project will need a budget of Rs 5,000 crore, out of which, the cost of acquiring land has been estimated at approximately Rs 800 crore. The project might get started for the traffic in 2026. However, an official  regarding the same is awaited.
