Kannada film sensation Rishab Shetty has undergone a remarkable transformation for his forthcoming project, the prequel of Kantara. Shedding his signature long hair, he has unveiled a striking new appearance that has stirred significant buzz on social media. Recently, the prequel has been generating substantial attention online, and it’s reported to carry a substantial budget of Rs 100 crore, promising a cinematic experience that’s bound to captivate audiences.

Kantara extensively features the divine deities Panjurli and Guliga and their connection to the land previously owned by the monarch of the area. Since the prequel is touted to be set almost a millennia back, speculations say that the possible origins of the deities may be explored in the film.

Although Rishab has not officially disclosed the time frame or subject matter he is working on. Speculations suggest that the film is set in 300 AD and will explore the origin tale of Panjurli, the boar avatar demi-god.

Kantara prequel was announced in February this year, with Shetty confirming that what audiences saw earlier was Part 2, and the next release would be Kantara’s prequel. Netizens speculate that the film’s intricate sets and extensive visual effects are driving its significant budget. According to industry insiders, Kantara 2 is set to commence filming in Mangalore in November, with a projected release date in the summer of 2024.

He said, “We are delighted and grateful to the audience for their tremendous love and support for Kantara. Moving forward with the blessings of the almighty Daiva, the film has completed a successful 100 days. I would like to seize this moment to announce Kantara’s prequel. What you have witnessed is Part 2, and Part 1 will be released next year.”

Kantara achieved tremendous global box office success last year, with Rishab donning the hat of a director, writer, and actor. The movie boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, and Pramod Shetty, among others.

The film not only emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters but also garnered acclaim from both critics and audiences. It set numerous records and even had the honour of being screened at the office of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
