In a tragic incident, 10 people were charred to death after a major fire broke out at a firecracker godown-cum-shop in Karnataka’s Attibele town, located at the outskirts of Bengaluru on Saturday.
According to eye witnesses, the fire broke in Balaji Crackers shop at around 4:30 pm, when the cracker boxes were being unloaded from a canter vehicle.

The fire fighters rushed to the spot and extinguished almost 80%. of the fire, the police said adding that some employees were working inside the shop when the fire broke out.
So far 10 dead bodies have been recovered from the spot and few more are suspected to be caught in the fire.
“Search operations are still underway to ascertain if anymore employees are still trapped inside the gutted shop,” said Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru Rural) Mallikarjun Baladandi.
He also said, “Five fire engines were pressed into operations and the fire has currently been brought under control”.
The police also said that firecrackers worth several lakhs were being stored in the godown for the upcoming Deepavali festival.
