In April, the government had the allowed airlines to charge passengers for preferential seating, meals among other services.
New Delhi: The Director General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) has put a cap on the number of preferential seats in an aircraft. The aviation regulator has capped the number of preferential seats through pre booking to 25 per cent.
The aviation regulator has also asked the airlines to inform passengers of any changes in pricing of services at least 30 days in advance.
In April, the government had allowed the airlines to charge passengers for preferential seating, meals and choice of lounges among other services. However, following this order some airlines started charging passengers for every seat on the aircraft.
