‘Gas deal not part of family settlement’
Anil Ambani said that the Reliance Industries and RNRL gas deal was not part of a family settlement.

New Delhi: Refuting the Government's rejection of the sale of natural gas by RIL to RNRL, Reliance Natural Resource Chairman, Anil Ambani said that the Reliance Industries and RNRL gas deal was not part of a family settlement.

According to Anil Ambani, the gas deal was approved by the boards of both companies in 2004.

He also said that the gas deal is a corporate one and will affect 20 lakh shareholders.

Earlier, Anil Ambani termed the rejection of the gas price agreement by the government 'premature and unfortunate'.

He said the petroleum ministry should have referred the issue to an expert committee for evaluation.

Anil said the gas supply agreement was arrived at in 2004 between the two companies, a claim disputed by RIL, headed by his elder brother Mukesh.

"Apart from the gas sale arrangement made in January, 2006, no other gas sale agreement from K G Basin has been entered into between RIL and RNRL at any time," RIL said in a statement.

Anil Ambani's mega power dreams have also run out of fuel. The Government's decision to reject the RIL-RNRL gas deal has come as a big blow for the company's ambitious Dadri power plant.
