They can file a complaint on NHAI's (National Highways Authority of India) toll-free helpline number-1033.

FASTag is a device that employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly. In recent times, however, many people have been subjected to financial irregularities regarding toll charges. For example, one Madhya Pradesh native named Dayanand Pachauri was charged with FASTag. This happened even though his car was parked 175 km away from the toll plaza located at Sironji. Pachauri has filed a complaint regarding this incident with Nitin Gadkari, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. In such cases, the vehicle owner is entitled to get the deducted money back. For this, they have to complain; and there are two ways to do it. They can file a complaint on NHAI’s (National Highways Authority of India) toll-free helpline number-1033. The affected owners just need to comply with the instructions given by the authorities and lodge a complaint. According to NHAI’s website, if the complaint is correct, the wrongly deducted money is refunded to the customer within 20-30 working days.

The vehicle owners can also file a complaint on the helpline number of the bank issuing the FASTag. Many banks are connected with FASTag and the users can connect with the helpline numbers of these banks. They can know the helpline numbers by clicking on the NPCI (National Payments Corporation Website of India)’s website. The website is – www.npci.org.in/what-we-do/netc-fastag/netc-fastag-helpline-number. You can also raise objections if the FASTag is connected with Paytm. You need to call the helpline number 1800-120-4210. You will be provided with some details and a link via SMS as well. There, you have to provide the information of that transaction, which according to you has been done erroneously.

There have been some scams as well some time back related to FASTag devices. According to the Free Press Journal, a 47-year-old man in Nala Sopara (Maharashtra) lost Rs 2.4 lakh to cyber criminals. This happened when he was trying to recharge his FasTag account. He was searching for the customer care number for FasTag online when he found a fake number. He called the number and was instructed by the fraudster to download a remote access application on his phone. Once the application was downloaded, the cyber criminals were able to access the victim’s bank account and transfer Rs 2.4 lakh to their account.
