New Delhi: Market continued their journey upward on back of buying in technology, banking, telecom and auto stocks and the strong recovery in US markets.
At 10:22 hours IST, the Sensex surged by 168 points at 12,865 and the Nifty by 54 points at 3,716. The CNX Midcap was up 18 points at 4,649.
Top gainers in the morning trade were Satyam, SBI, Tata Motors, ACC, Tata Steel, HLL, Wipro and Rel Comm.

Asian stocks were mostly back in rally mode today, extending gains for a second straight session. Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted gained 0.35 per cent or 26.06 points at 7,477.12.
Singapore's Straits Times surged 1.64 per cent or 49.72 points at 3,086.24. South Korea's Seoul Composite was up 0.11 per cent or 1.56 points at 1,404.49. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was flat at 19,058.56. However, Japan's Nikkei was down 0.46 per cent or 77.9 points at 16,766.6.
Wall Street rebounded yesterday as investors were encouraged by a recovery on world markets; The Dow rose 157.18 points, or 1.30 per cent, to 12,207.59.
