Mkts end higher: Metal, power, realty, IT stocks rally
Cues from equity mkts across the globe were encouraging.

New Delhi: The markets started the new series on a positive note by ending the day on an extremely strong note.

On Friday turnover was high on both cash and F&O side and volatility was very low. Cues from equity markets across the globe were encouraging as most of the Asian peers ended in green. Midcaps were also shining and the BSE Midcap index outperformed the benchmark indices.

All the key BSE indices ended in green led by metal, power and realty and IT indices.

Sensex was up 359.93 points or 1.89% at 19363.19, and the Nifty up 128.15 points or 2.27% at 5762.75.

About 1865 shares have advanced, 1133 shares declined, and 82 shares are unchanged.

DLF, Reliance Energy, Sterlite, Unitech, Nalco, Tata Power, MTNL, TCS and HDFC were among the top gainers on indices.

Among the few losers were HUL, Ambuja Cements, Bajaj Auto, GSK, HPCL and Hero Honda.

The BSE Midcap Index ended at 8,553.56 up 2.28%.

The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 10,526.02 up 1.3%.

The BSE Bankex was up 2%. Kotak Mahindra, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Union Bank, IOB, Karnataka Bank moved upwards.

The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 1% at 19,626.69. Punj Loyd, Areva T&D, Carborundum, AIA Engineering, Thermax Triveni Engg closed higher.

The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,454.24 up 0.6%. Amtek Auto, Cummins, TVS Motor, Ashok Leyland, Maruti Suzuki closed higher.

The BSE Metal Index closed was up 5%. Sterlie, Sesa Goa, Jindal Steel, JindalStainless, Tata Steel, SAIL, Hind Zinc closed higher.

The BSE FMCG Index closed at 2,158.73 up 2%. United Spirits, GlaxoSmith Con, ITC, Dabur India, Marico, ITC, Bata India closed higher.

BSE Oil and Gas Index closed up over 2%. Reliance Natura, Essar Oil, Reliance Petro, Petronet LNG, ONGC ended higher.

The BSE IT Index was at 4,203.10 up 3%. Financial Tech, Satyam, I-Flex Solution, TCS, Mphasis closed higher.

BSE Realty Index up over 3.5%. Phoenix Mills, DLF, Omaxe, Ansal Propertie, Puravankara Pro closed higher.
