Lahore Controversy refuses to spare temperamental speedster Shoaib Akhtar with media reports in Lahore claiming he was issued a written warning by World XI coach John Wright for poor teammanship in the Super Series.
According to The News, Shoaib did not turn up at the ground after being dropped from the playing XI in the Super Test on the first day, thus incurring the wrath of coach Wright who was prompt to react.
?After which Wright directly addressed a letter to him warning him if he didn't show up at the ground on the second day he would be sent back home on the first available flight,? the daily quoted 'a well-informed source' as saying.
Shoaib cited a throat infection for not showing up but soon after receiving the warning, the pacer was seen carrying the drinks on the second day.
The source said that Shoaib also had problem with Wright during the three-match ODI series.
?Apparently, during one of the limited overs games Shoaib violated curfew hours and next day Wright told him he was not pleased with his level of commitment to the World XI team,'' the source said.
Shoaib's image as a poor team man was further established with Chairman of the Worcestershire club John Elliot criticising the pacer for his lack of team ethic during his stay with the county.
?Players like that are no good to our club. In fact, Shoaib has been no good for any club he is been at,? Elliot was quoted as saying by Sporting Life.
?It's all about team spirit and getting the dressing room right and when you've got a bloke like Shoaib in there, it can cause mayhem,'' he added.
Recently on the Zimbabwe tour Indian coach Greg Chappell had pulled up Sourav Ganguly for his lack of form.
The coach has asked him to step down and make way for younger players, which has let to a storm in the Indian cricket.
