The Sensex staged a strong comeback as it was up 186 points in early trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Mumbai: The Sensex staged a strong comeback as it was up 186 points in early trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The BSE-30 share index, Sensex, which had lost nearly 350 points on Tuesday, recovered by 186.08 points at 13,568.09 in the first five minutes of trade. On the National Stock Exchange, Nifty was up by 51.15 points at 3,883.15.

There were reports of firming trends at Asian markets. Japan's Nikkei gained 157.37 points at 16,934.25, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 164.41 points at 19,128.961, Singapore's Straits Time surged 37.73 points at 2,935.03, Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted was up 36.32 points at 7,635.20 and South Korea's Seoul Composite rose 13.95 points at 1,441.71..

Major gainers during early trade were Reliance Industries, BHEL, Larsen and Toubro, Infosys Technologies, Satyam Computers, Wipro, Tata Motors, Tata Steels and ACC.

Meanwhile, stocks of Sobha Developers were listed at Rs 1179 against the offered price of Rs 640.
