Pakistan Test team’s newly appointed head coach Jason Gillespie has invited Paris Olympics gold medalist Arshad Nadeem to the dressing room. Sending an invitation to Nadeem to visit the Pakistan dressing room, Gillespie said that sharing the gold medal would certainly be a ‘fantastic boost’ to the team.
Pakistan javelin thrower Nadeem scripted a record to clinch a gold medal at the Olympics 2024. “We would love to invite Arshad Nadeem to the dressing room. I saw them all (the players) cheering him on during the Olympics. Having him visit and share his gold medal with the team would be a fantastic boost, especially with the Olympic spirit still in the air. It was a wonderful moment, and we extend an open invitation for him to visit the dressing room,” Gillespie said while speaking on the PCB Podcast.
Arshad Nadeem came up with a throw of more than 86 meters to qualify for the final round at the Paris Olympics. In the final round, Nadeem produced an Olympic record throw of 92.97 meters to secure the gold medal. With this, Nadeem became Pakistan’s first Olympic medal winner since Barcelona 1992. Nadeem continued his sublime form with another gigantic throw of 91.79m at the Paris Olympics.
Pakistan Test skipper Shan Masood felt that Arshad Nadeem’s historic gold medal would motivate the cricketers to perform better for the country.
“I don’t see it as pressure but as a privilege. Representing Pakistan is a huge honour, and every day we play is a privilege. We should feel extremely proud and grateful to represent our country. Arshad Nadeem’s success motivates us to seize our opportunity to do something good for Pakistan,” Shan Masood was quoted as saying.
