'He is the Complete Package': Ex-IND Opener Suggests Musheer Khan Could Outshine Elder Brother Sarfaraz
Former Indian cricketer believes that Musheer Khan is the complete package after a stellar run of performances in the recently concluded U19 World Cup.

Following India’s heartbreaking loss against Australia in the finals of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2024, a former Indian cricketer believes that the batting all-rounder Musheer Khan ‘is the complete package,’ but will have to work on certain aspects of his game.

Musheer Khan was among India’s standout players in the recently concluded U19 World Cup. He finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 360 runs while the Indian skipper Uday Saharan finished at the top scoring 397 runs.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra believes that Musheer Khan has the talent and went on to break down some of his best attributes with the bat. He commented,” Musheer is a great kid. The good thing about him is that he has the gift of timing. He plays well on his feet and in front. He plays well in that range. He is a good player of spin too. He has some unorthodox shots in his arsenal as well.”

The young batter from Mumbai has scored two centuries and a fifty in the tournament as India went on to the finals unbeaten in the tournament. His notable knocks came in against New Zealand in the Super Sixes stage where he scored 131 runs at Bloemfontein.

Chopra also highlighted his shortcomings from what he has seen in the tournament so far. He believes that the batter would have to work on his ability to play the shorter deliveries and work on his back-foot game. He added, “He will have to work on a few things like his shots on the back foot are a little weak. Even in the finals and the semi-finals, he was dismissed on the back foot. If he wants to have a good career in international cricket, then he will have to work on that.”

However, the former Indian batter has reason to believe that his weakness in the shorter delivery will be something that Musheer overcomes. He mentioned, “I have seen his practice pitches. His father uses the side-arm and bombards him with shorter deliveries.”

Chopra also added, “He will get past that and is a good utility bowler as well and good on the field, so he is the complete package.”

The brother of Sarfaraz Khan who received his maiden India call-up to the Test squad for the England series, is also a handy bowler to have in the side. In the tournament, he finished with seven wickets as well.

Chopra concluded by making a bold comparison between the two brothers and went on to say, “It is possible that when both their careers end, the younger brother could outshine the elder brother.”
