India's second Test against Bangladesh will be held in Kanpur amidst threat of a possible protest.

Amidst a possible threat of protest during Team India’s second Test match against Bangladesh, the Board of Control for Cricket in India have revealed their plans for the upcoming match which was supposed to be held at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

According to a report by SportsTak, the BCCI has revealed that there would be no change of plans and the second Test in Kanpur would continue as announced earlier. The Indian Cricket Board are monitoring the situation in collaboration with the concerned authorities.

The BCCI source was quoted saying,” Yes, we are monitoring and with the concerned authorities as far as those threats are concerned but we have done everything to hold that match and stadium is ready to welcome our and visitors and said it’s not going anywhere it will be in Kanpur but will keep monitoring the situation not only in Kanpur but also at the other venues”.

The second Test in Kanpur was threatened by a possible protest by the Hindu Mahasabha against the visiting side, Bangladesh, citing the political turmoil that has been going on within the country.

Coming back to the cricketing side of things, Bangladesh will be eager to continue riding their momentum after claiming a 2-0 series victory over Pakistan in Rawalpindi. Key players like Shakib Al Hasan have opted to play county cricket to prepare for the upcoming series against Rohit Sharma’s side.

For the Indian team, Rishabh Pant is set to make his return to Test cricket marking the final chapter in his comeback to the sport following his time off due to the injuries he suffered in the horrific accident.

Despite earlier reports suggesting that India might rest Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian team has opted to pick him to play the coming games as well, opting for a no-risk approach when it comes to the World Test Championship.

Among the big names that are returning to the side include, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. The former had taken an extended break due to the birth of his second child while the latter who was part of the home series against England was ruled out midway due to injury.
