The BCCI announced India’s 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 on Tuesday with Rohit Sharma, as expected, named captain while his Mumbai Indians teammate Hardik Pandya is the designated vice-captain. Virat Kohli, Yashavi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and Sanju Samson make up India’s top-order, along with the backup options while Shivam Dube has been rewarded for his stellar form in the IPL as the lower-order enforcer.

Interestingly, India opted to pack their 15 with as many as four spin bowling options in the form of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal, while there are only three specialist pacers in the 15 – Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj and Arshdeep Singh.

The big misses though are designated finisher Rinku Singh and opener Shubman Gill – both of whom are part of the reserves list alongside two pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan. KL Rahul has been overlooked.

The Senior Selection Committee on Tuesday picked India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be hosted in the West Indies and USA.
India will begin their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 05, 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, followed by the marquee clash against Pakistan on June 09, 2024 at the same venue. India will then play USA and Canada on June 12 and 15 respectively.
