Shan Masood at Risk of Being Sacked as Captain After Shameful Innings-defeat to England in Multan - Report
Reports suggest that the PCB could look to remove Shan Masood from his role as captain with the likes of Rizwan and Agha Salman being tipped as candidates to take over.

After Pakistan’s innings defeat against England in Multan on Friday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are expected to make major changes to the squad which includes Shan Masood being ousted from his role as the captain of the Test side.

According to a report by the Pakistan news outlet, GeoSuper, as per sources expect the national cricket board to make some major announcements which include Masood’s removal as captain after losing all six games since his appointment for the role.

The report has tipped the likes of Mohammad Rizwan along with Salman Ali Agha as the ‘potential candidates’ to take over the job as Pakistan’s Test skipper. Not too long ago, Babar Azam also resigned from his role as Pakistan’s white-ball captain as well.

Pakistan have been in their worst form to date as they crumbled under home conditions to England’s brilliance in the opening Test. Despite Masood scoring 153 and Pakistan scoring over 500 runs in the first innings, the Men in Green were unable to follow up their performance with the ball as England went on to score over 800 runs thanks to the brilliance of Joe Root and Harry Brook who scored a double and triple century respectively.

Following this, Pakistan lost as many as five wickets in the final session of Day 4 and went on to be bowled out on the final day to continue their disastrous run of form.

Pakistan’s squad is reported to see some major changes with the likes of Kamran Ghulam, Imam-ul-Haq, Zahid Mahmood and Nouman Ali being tipped to be called up to the national side. In addition, Abrar Ahmed who was hospitalized due to a high fever could miss out on the second Test which will be played in Multan once again.

The Men in Green are experiencing their worst form, that too in home conditions. In fact, they have not won a single game from 2022 at home which comes out as a surprising fact. As a result of this loss, they are also languishing at the bottom of the World Test Championship (WTC) table as well.
