RR's star-batter Yashasvi Jaiswal shared a warm hug with the legendary Brian Lara, after their win againt MI.

Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal shared a heartwarming moment with the West Indian legend Brian Lara after a match-winning knock against the Mumbai Indians on Monday (April 22).

Jaiswal had a slow start to the ongoing IPL season but the youngster rediscovered his form soon, producing a record-breaking ton against the five-time champions.

Following Rajasthan Royals’ victory, the franchise shared a video where the southpaw can be seen in his fanboy mode, rushing towards the veteran cricketer.

Jaiswal was so excited to meet Lara that he rushed and hugged him before even taking his batting pads off. In the video, Lara can be heard asking Yashasvi how he was doing. In an absolute disbelief of a moment for Jaiswal, he promptly replied, “I am really good! Thank You! Finally!

Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a 60-ball 104, to chase down the target against Mumbai Indians earlier that evening. Playing in Jaipur, Yashasvi belted nine boundaries and seven sixes in the game.

A couple of 30-plus knocks from Jos Buttler and Rajasthan skipper Sanju Samson, saw the table toppers beat Mumbai Indians by nine wickets. Yashasvi’s latest ton also made him the youngest player in IPL history to smash multiple centuries.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made his IPL debut in 2020, featuring in three matches. He quickly rose through the ranks, showcase his batting prowess. In his 45 games in the T20 extravaganza, Jaiswal has amassed 1397 runs at a strike rate of 150.05, and has become an irreparable part of Rajasthan Royals.

RR currently lead the IPL 2024 standings with 14 points from eight games. They have lost just a single match so far this season. The Sanju Samson-led side will next compete against Lucknow Super Giants this weekend on April 27.

As for Brian Lara, the cricketer-turned-commentator is one of the greatest icons in the sport’s history. He produced an incredible 375 and 501 not out in 1994 to break the world records for the highest Test and First-Class cricket scores at the time. Lara represented the West Indies in 131 Test matches, scoring 11,953 runs. His unbeaten 400-run knock against England in 2004 will be remembered by cricket fans forever. In his ODI career, Lara amassed 10,405 runs in 299 matches. He retired from international cricket in 2007, a year before the IPL was introduced.
