'Welcome to Jazball': Netizens Hail Yashasvi Jaiswal After Blistering Knock Against England on Day 1 of Hyderabad Test
Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 76 at stumps as his 70-ball knock was laced with 9 fours and three sixes to put England on the backfoot.

Young India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal stunned the England cricket team with his aggressive batting display on Day 1 of the opening Test. Jaiswal showed England how to apply their own ‘Bazball’ approach on Indian soil with a 47-ball half-century in the third session of the day’s play in Hyderabad.

The southpaw made his intentions clear right from the first ball with a boundary off Mark Wood’s delivery and he didn’t look back after that and smashed the English bowlers all around the park.

Jaiswal did what England attempted during their batting – ‘Bazball’ but the visitors failed to execute it on the spin-friendly track.

The Indian opener remained unbeaten on 76 at stumps as his 70-ball knock was laced with 9 fours and three sixes to put England on the backfoot.

The 22-year-old smashed the England left-arm spinner for two sixes in his first over, one over long-on and the other in front of the square.

His twinkling feet and fast hands made it tough for the England spinners to settle into a rhythm against him.

Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma (27) added 80 runs in just 12.1 overs to give their side a wonderful launching pad.

It came to an end when Rohit gave a catch to Stokes off left-arm spinner Jack Leach while trying to clear him over the long-on.

The Indian cricket team fans on social media started terming Jaiswal’s batting as ‘Jazball’.

England had started the day briskly, with Duckett (35) and Zak Crawley (20) putting on an opening stand of 55, with regular boundaries off Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.

England reached 41-0 in eight overs before spin was introduced, with Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin eventually taking three apiece.

Ben Stokes top-scored with 70 after the visitors opted to bat first, sticking to their ultra-attacking “Bazball” strategy to counter India’s renowned home-turf spin prowess.

England had lost regular wickets until Stokes took charge and lifted the total, smashing six fours and three sixes.

He also put together key lower-order stands with Hartley (23) and Mark Wood (11) before he was finally bowled by paceman Jasprit Bumrah after tea in the final wicket of the innings.
