'Yashasvi Jaiswal is Not Happy...': Rohit Sharma Cautions 'Great Player' After Wonderful Start to India Career
Yashasvi Jaiswal has made a dream start to his Test career having made 1213 runs from 11 games at an average of 64.05.

Rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal tasting success at an early stage of his Test career hasn’t come as a surprise to captain Rohit Sharma who reckons that the young batter has got ‘real talent’ to succeed in different conditions. Jaiswal made his Test debut during the tour of the Caribbean islands last year and has since scored 1217 runs at an average of 64.05. The 22-year-old has three centuries and seven half-centuries to his name including a best of 204*.

Jaiswal has been opening alongside Rohit in Test cricket with the latter having the best seat in the house to keep a close watch on the youngster’s game.

“I am not surprised at all because the guy (Jaiswal) has got real talent. He has got the game to play in all sorts of conditions,” Rohit told reporters in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

“Obviously, very new to international cricket right now, so, very hard to judge. But he has got all the ingredients for success at this level,” he added.

Rohit said Jaiswal is someone who never settles for what he has achieved so far and consistently strives to improve his game and branded him a “great player” who will serve Indian cricket for a long time.

“He (Jaiswal) is somebody who wants to learn the game, learn about batsmanship. When a youngster comes into the team, his mindset is quite critical. He always wants to improve, and is not happy with what he has achieved and which is obviously a great start to a young career. We found a great player. Hopefully, he can continue to do what he has done in the last year or so,” Rohit said.

Rohit though hopes Jaiswal keeps his head straight and do justice to his talent.

“It is just about how he manages himself in the next couple of years. But what he has shown us in this brief period of time, you can bet on him to do wonders for the team. He has come through the ranks. Hopefully, what he has been doing, I hope he continues to do that,” he said.

“He has played a lot of domestic cricket, under-19 cricket. He has succeeded as well, and that is why he is playing for India. It does obviously well for our team as well him being a left-hander, being an aggressive batter,” he added.
