The Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kanpur, has launched the “SATHEE IBPS” program to prepare for bank recruitment exams. This initiative has been started in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to provide quality educational resources to the youth preparing for competitive exams.
In a recent media interaction, Professor Manindra Agarwal, Director, of IIT Kanpur, said, “I believe that the launch of the application reflects our commitment to democratise education. This is an example of our active use of technology to empower students across the country under the National Education Policy 2020.”
Further, Professor Amey Karkare, Principal Investigator of the project, highlighted the unique features of SATHEE IBPS, saying, “By incorporating our AI-driven tutoring system, SATHEE IBPS delivers a structured learning experience that adapts seamlessly to the distinct needs of every student, ensuring personalized support throughout their preparation journey.”
Along with this, Govind Jaiswal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Education, said that this platform has been designed to bridge the digital divide, create an educational environment for IBPS aspirants, and help them fulfil their ambitions regardless of their geographical or economic limitations.
The SATHEE IBPS programme provides comprehensive study material for the IBPS Clerk exam. Other IBPS exams may also be included shortly. Registration for the SATHEE IBPS program can be done through the dedicated portal https://ibps.iitk.ac.in/ or the app. If one wants to register through the app, then they have to download the SATHEE app by going to the Google Play Store.
By registering on IBPS, those preparing for the IBPS banking exam can assess their preparation by giving mock tests and topic-wise tests. Daily quizzes are also provided on this portal. By solving them, the candidate’s general knowledge can also be tested.
This latest initiative by IIT Kanpur aims to make quality education accessible to everyone and support the next generation of banking professionals.
Recently, IIT Kanpur saw an overall 12 per cent dip in the 2023-24 academic session with a major drop in international offers, as compared to those of last year. Even though the number of Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) received by students went up this year, the overall placements, including in some Masters courses, remained low, indicating that even though students were offered jobs upon internships, hiring declined towards year-end, data given in a report by the institute showed.
According to the statistics in the report (till May 31), while the overall placement rate this year was 76 per cent, the same stood at 87.9 per cent in the 2022–23 academic session. The institute has a ‘One student, one job’ policy, which means a student can accept only a single job offer.
