New Delhi: The UPSC Civil Service Examination 2023 results, declared in April, introduced a cohort of notable achievers, each with a unique career trajectory. Aditya Srivastava, Animesh Pradhan, Donuru Anya Reddy, PK Siddharth Ramkumar, and Ruhani emerged as the top five scorers, capturing the public’s attention with their remarkable achievements. Following the declaration of results, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has published the allocation details of services to the top 50 candidates of UPSC 2023.
While the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS) remains a coveted choice, several top performers have chosen alternative paths within the civil services, such as Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS). The DoPT allocated services to 883 candidates who cleared the UPSC exam. According to the released list, except for some candidates, most top rankers have opted various career choices, which has been duly allotted to them.
Vardah Khan, securing the 18th rank, and Vishnu Kumar, ranked 31st, have been allocated the IFS based on their preferences. Additionally, Jayashree Pradhan, ranked 52nd, and Atul Tyagi, ranked 62nd, have also declined the IAS and chosen the IFS instead. Candidates up to the 77th rank in the general category who expressed a preference for IAS have been allotted the same cadre. However, Ishani Anand, who secured the 79th rank in the general category, has been assigned to the IPS.
The UPSC 2023 final results were announced on April 16, 2024, recommending the appointment of 1,016 candidates for 1,143 vacancies across various services including IAS, IFS, and IPS. Among these, 347 candidates were from the general category, 115 from EWS, 303 from OBC, 165 from SC, and 86 from ST categories. Additionally, the results of 355 candidates were kept provisional.
Aditya Srivastava secured the top rank nationwide in UPSC 2023, followed by Animesh Pradhan in second place, Donuru Ananya Reddy in third, PK Siddharth Ramkumar in fourth, and Ruhani in fifth place.
