New Delhi: Bundesliga club Bayern Munich has parted company with manager Felix Magath and replaced him with former boss Ottmar Hitzfield, who has signed until the end of the season.
The Bundesliga champions have failed to win their last two matches and currently lie fourth in the league. Magath's successor Hitzfeld led Bayern to the Champions League trophy in 2001, having also won it with Borussia Dortmund in 1997.
"We simply have, and I don't want to hide this, made this step because we are concerned about the current developments. Concerned about our position (in the Bundesliga table). Yesterday, we were overtaken by VfB Stuttgart. We're only in fourth position now. We are also concerned to miss the champions league qualifying, finally," Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.
