Milan: Pedro Leon scored in second-half injury time, giving Real Madrid a 2-2 tie at AC Milan on Wednesday night to advance the Spanish power into the European Champions League's second round along with Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
Gonzalo Higuain put Madrid ahead in the 45th minute but Filippo Inzaghi replaced Ronaldinho in the 60th minute and scored in the 68th and 78th minutes, raising his career Champions League total to 50 goals.
Leon collected a pass in the penalty area and slotted a shot between the legs of goalkeeper Christian Abbiati to ensure Madrid will finish among the top two in Group G.
The never-shy Jose Mourinho made sure to remind everyone of his success as Inter Milan coach. He held up three fingers from the bus window to signify the trio of titles — Champions League, Serie A and Italian Cup — he won with Inter last season before signing as Real Madrid's coach.
"Those three fingers weren't for the Milan fans, but Inter fans," Mourinho said. "It meant that they could see from their homes that their ex-boss is still an Inter fan and will never forget those three historic trophies."
In the group's other match, Auxerre beat visiting Ajax, a four-time champion, 2-1 on goals by Frederic Sammaritano in the ninth minute and substitute Steven Langil in the 84th. Toby Alderweireld tied it in the 79th with a header off Luis Suarez's cross.
Real Madrid (3-0-1) has 10 points, followed by AC Milan (1-1-2) with five, Ajax (1-2-1) with four and Auxerre (1-3) with three.
In London, Chelsea routed Spartak Moscow 4-1 as Branislav Ivanovic scored twice in the second half and Nicolas Anelka and Didier Didier added goals.
In the other Group F game, Marseille won 7-0 at Zilina, the biggest road victory margin in Champions League history. Andre Pierre Gignac scored three goals, Lucho Gonzalez two, and Gabriel Heinze and Loic Remy one apiece.
Chelsea (4-0) tops Group F with 12 points, followed by Marseille and Spartak (both 2-2) with six apiece and Zilina (0-4).
Bayern Munich won 4-0 at Cluj in Group E as Mario Gomez scored three goals and Thomas Mueller got one.
AS Roma won 3-2 at Basel as Jeremy Menez scored in the 16th, Francesco Totti converted a penalty kick in the 25th and Leandro Greco scored in the 76th. Basel got goals from Alexander Frei in the 69th and Xherdan Shaqiri in the 83rd.
Bayern (4-0) has 12 points, followed by AS Roma (2-2), and Basel and Cluj (both 1-3) with three each.
In Ukraine, Shakhtar Donetsk rallied to beat Arsenal 2-1. Theo Walcott scored in the 10th minute, giving him seven goals this season, but Dmyrto Chygrynskiy tied the score in the 28th and Eduardo scored against his former club for the second straight game, getting the go-ahead goal in the 45th.
Braga won 1-0 at Partizan Belgrade on a 35th-minute goal by Moises.
Arsenal and Shakhtar (both 3-1) have nine points each, followed by Braga (2-2) and Partizan Belgrade (0-4).
