Gary Neville Backs Dan Ashworth as Man United Sporting Director to Result in Successful Transfer Window
Man Utd legend Gary Neville believes that Dan Ashworth as the club's sporting director will put an end to the club's woes with regards to transfers.

Gary Neville said that Dan Ashworth, newly appointed Sporting Director of Manchester United, may well guide the side to a successful transfer window this summer. Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Neville touched upon how Ashworth’s presence at Old Trafford will help in instilling some calmness into the club.

He voiced that the new Sporting Director’s presence will prevent the Red Devils from making brash transfer decisions. “You won’t get another situation, I don’t think, with Dan Ashworth there and the other people whereby United are panicking in the transfer window and shooting from the hip like they have done in years gone by,” Neville said.

Speaking further, Manchester United legend Gary Neville said, “What I’m hopeful of is that all the appointments that have been made in and around Erik ten Hag, obviously a new CEO, particularly Dan Ashworth, I think who does bring composure. I think he deserves a mention in respect of the performances of this England team over the last few years. He was one of the key people in building the foundations of this new England look.”

Just last week, Manchester United confirmed Dan Ashworth’s appointment as the club’s Sporting Director. After months of pursuing the recruitment expert, Manchester United were finally able to make a deal for his transfer. Ashworth is expected to play a crucial role in Manchester United’s transfer activities. This includes both getting new talent for the club and shrinking the unnecessarily bloated squad.

In recent years, Manchester United have suffered from a reputation for poor handling of transfer dealings while also overspending on targets. Gary Neville believes all that is going to change, given the impact Ashworth had in improving the England squad.

After months of speculations revolving around Manchester United looking for a new manager, the club chose to keep Erik ten Hag in charge. Manchester United are now looking to sign the Dutch duo of Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt. Both of them are currently representing the Netherlands under Ronald Koeman at the Euro 2024. The Dutch side will next be taking on England in the semi-final of the Euro 2024 at the Signal Iduna Park.
