Manchester United, who are on the verge of getting their 20th premier league title, are looking confident to acheive it easily. Manchester United can 'smell the finishing line' in the title race and deserve to be ranked among the great champions if they finish the job against Aston Villa, said Alex Ferguson, according to a report in Dailymail.
"We have a group of players that are determined and committed. There is a collective enjoyment about their game. Someone like Robin van Persie hasn't won the league before and he's really up for it. I think he's smelling that the finishing line is very close."
If Manchester City lose to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and Manchester United beat Aston Villa on Monday, the race for the title this year will be finish. Manchester United top the table with 81 points, followed by City on 68.
United have 81 points from 33 matches and will break the record of 95 set by Chelsea if they win all five remaining games. In comparison, Arsenal's Invincibles, who went through the 2003-04 season unbeaten, won the League with 90 points. "Three months ago, if you'd asked me where I'd like to win the League, I would have said "anywhere"," said Ferguson with a smile.
United have already signed 15million Pound Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace and have been linked with Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski and Radamel Falcao of Atletico Madrid. "When big signings are mentioned, the players you are talking about are normally forwards, but it's complicated enough with the forwards I've got," said Ferguson.
