New Delhi: The media in Spain believe that Los Blancos are about to smash the world record transfer for CR7.
After reports emerged on Wednesday evening that Jorge Valdano declared that Real Madrid are in negotiations with Manchester United to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, certain sections of the Spanish press believe that the deal is now close to completion.
Marca, in their early Thursday morning edition, splashed a picture of CR7 in their famous white kit from last season with the headline, “CR7 Will Play In Madrid”. The paper also reported that Los Blancos will have to dish out an astronomical €96 million (₤82m) for the Portuguese, making him, by a country mile, the most expensive player in the world.
Meanwhile, La Razon went one better when they included details of the contract and the agreement on their website.
They believe that the Red Devil will pen a six-year contract with an annual salary of €9.5 million net, although the player will surrender 40 per cent of his image rights to the club. Ronaldo’s agent, meanwhile will pocket 10 per cent of the transfer fee, €9.6 million, for brokering the deal.
Over in England however, The Mirror has reported that at this point in time, Madrid are only about to launch a formal bid for CR7, while they also dismissed claims that Los Blancos had sent a doctor out to Los Angeles, where the Portuguese is currently on vacation, to conduct a medical.
