Newcastle: Sunderland powered to a 3-0 win at fierce rival Newcastle for the second straight season to surge clear of Premier League's relegation zone and spark anger among disillusioned home fans on Saturday.

Sunderland were 2-0 ahead after just 23 minutes when Fabio Borini's penalty - following Vurnon Anita's foul on Phil Bardsley - was added to by Adam Johnson's sixth goal in his last four league games.

Jack Colback ensured there would be no comeback by Newcastle when he buried a finish in the 80th minute after good work by Borini, clinching a third straight derby win for Sunderland.

In another match, Andy Carroll twice set up goals for Kevin Nolan before being sent off as 10-man West Ham beat Swansea 2-0 Saturday to provisionally move out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Carroll headed down to Nolan in the 26th for his teammate to fire in a left-footed half volley at Upton Park. The West Ham captain made it 2-0 in the 45th after Carroll headed in from the side and Nolan scored with a close-range header of his own.

Carroll was dismissed with a straight red card 14 minutes after the interval when his flailing arm caught Swansea defender Chico Flores on the head. Flores rolled over on the ground several times for what appeared to be a light blow at most.
