Renowned filmmaker Ari Aster has brought together an impressive ensemble cast for his upcoming project titled Eddington. The movie, which will be backed and produced by A24, features a star-studded lineup including Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Austin Butler, Pedro Pascal, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, and Clifton Collins Jr. With Aster at the helm, known for his spine-chilling supernatural-horror creations such as Hereditary, anticipation for Eddington is already running high among fans. While specific plot details are being kept under wraps, the film is said to revolve around a small-town sheriff in New Mexico with ambitions beyond his current role.
Production for Eddington is set to start this week, with Aster taking on the roles of writer, director, and producer alongside Lars Knudsen under their production banner, Square Peg. Darius Khondji, a two-time Academy Award nominee known for his work on films like Evita and Bardo, will work as the director of photography, as reported by Variety.
This collaboration marks the sixth partnership between Square Peg and A24, following the success of previous projects such as Hereditary, Midsommar, and Beau Is Afraid, along with Dream Scenario and the forthcoming Death of a Unicorn.
Joaquin Phoenix, fresh off a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in Beau Is Afraid, leads the cast. Meanwhile, Emma Stone, who recently clinched her second Academy Award for Poor Things, joins the lineup along with Austin Butler, currently making waves in Dune: Part Two, and Pedro Pascal, known for his roles in Drive Away Dolls and The Last of Us Season 2.
Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, and Clifton Collins Jr. round out the talented ensemble, each bringing their own unique flair to the project.
