Open Signal. It's the blue app with a white speech bubble in the middle. If you don't have Signal installed on your phone, you can it from the Google Play Store.
Tap Android 7 Edit. It's the blue pencil button in the lower-right corner. This starts a new conversation.
Enter a name or number. Tap the bar at the top that says "Enter name or number" and write a person's name or phone number. You can also scroll through your list of contacts below and tap the person you want to call.
Tap the call button to place the call. It's the phone icon in the top-right of the screen. There are two different icons you might see here that will determine the kind of call Signal will make: Android 7 Call - A normal, unprotected call will be placed because the person you're calling doesn't have Signal. Android 7 Call Locked - A secure, end-to-end encrypted call will be placed because the person you're calling has Signal.
Wait for the call to connect. If you're making a secure Signal call, it can take a little longer to connect than a normal call because Signal's encrypted calls are sent peer-to-peer and don't go through a central server. If you're making a normal unprotected call you may have to press the call button in your phone's calling app to start the call.
