- Finizen can be found in all of Paldea's seas, though you will likely need Miraidon or Koraidon's swimming ability to catch one.
- Finizen levels up at level 38 into Palafin, but only if you're in a Union Circle group.
- To get Palafin to change into its Hero form, you must allow it to return to its Pokeball in battle and send it back out.
Obtain a Finizen. Finizen can be caught in any of Paldea's seas. Paldea has four seas, one for each province, but Finizen can also be found in the ocean of West Province Area Two. Finizen may spawn near the shoreline and approach you, but you likely won't be able to find one until Koraidon or Miraidon have unlocked swimming after defeating the Open Sky Titan.
Add your Finizen to your party. You don't need to have Finizen in the first slot of your party, but it must be in your party to get experience.
Level Finizen to level 37. You can do this with battles, Rare Candies, or EXP Candies. Finizen technically evolves at level 38, but you must level it while in a Union Circle group to evolve it. Union Circle is a new feature to Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, which allows up to four players to play the game together via a local connection or the Internet.
Link up with a friend in Union Circle. Simply go to any Pokemon Center and interact with the yellow kiosk on the side of the center to enter the Poke Portal menu. If you're doing a local connection, you can keep your game in offline mode and select the Union Circle menu item. If you're trying to get into a Union Circle on the internet, you must enter online mode before selecting the Union Circle menu item. You can either form a new group or join a group, if your friend has already started a Union Circle group. If you create your own group, you'll be given a four- or six-digit code to share with your friend to join the Union Circle. If you join a group, you'll need to enter the four- or six-digit code given to you by your friend to join up. Select Set out together once you've gotten into a group with your friend.
Level up your Finizen. You can do this by battling or you can use a Rare Candy or EXP Candies. Once your Finizen is level 38 and you're in a Union Circle group, your Finizen will evolve into Palafin.
Allow your Palafin to learn Flip Turn upon evolving. While your Palafin looks almost identical to Finizen, that's because it's in its Zero Form. In order to turn into Hero Form it must switch out in battle and then get sent back out.
Have your Palafin use Flip Turn in battle. Your Palafin will attack the enemy Pokemon and then return to its Pokeball.
Send Palafin back out. Palafin will now be in its Hero Form, which has higher Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk (Special Attack), and Sp. Def (Special Defense). Palafin will say in this form until the end of the battle. If you don't want to evolve your own Finizen into Palafin, you can very rarely find them in 5-star Tera Raid Battles.
