HYDERABAD: Two women were among those caught for drunken driving by the city traffic cops during a drive in Banjara Hills area. As many as 211 drunk drivers were booked last Friday and Saturday and their vehicles were seized. The special drive at various places in the twin cities was conducted from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. "A total of 211 drunken drivers were arrested and their vehicles, 79 fourwheelers, 126 twowheelers and six autorickshaws, were seized.
The offenders were produced before the IV Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Nampally on Monday. The Magistrate imposed fines up to `2,500 on each of them besides suspending their driving licences for three months," said CV Anand, additional commissioner of police, traffic.The traffic police deployed seven teams in areas like Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills and Panjagutta. Doctors, High Court advocates, media personnel, government and police department employees and IT professionals were among those caught for drunken driving.
