VELLORE: Twenty-eight people were injured, when their bus hit a road-side tree near Arcot, on Tuesday. The bus, carrying 50 pilgrims from Kanmangala, Bangalore, was bound for Melmaruvathur. The accident occured near Keerampadi on the Arcot-Cheyyar road, when the driver of the bus lost control trying to avoid collision with an oncoming lorry. Some injured were rushed to Cheyyar GH, while others were taken to Chengalpet GH. Suspected Train SuicidesIn separate incidents, two men died when they threw themselves before oncoming trains on Monday. A 30-year-old man was run over by a Jolarpet-Chennai express train between Katpadi and Latheri railway stations. Another 30-year-old man threw himself before a train near Kavanur railway station. The Jolarpet police are trying to identify the dead.Woman Burglar HeldA woman was arrested in a burglary case on Tuesday. Priya from Chennai had come to visit her relative in Annapoondi near Virunjipuram. She reportedly decamped with 18 sovereigns of gold jewelry and two sets of silver anklets. Virunjipuram police filed a case and arrested Priya.EB Employee Falls, DiesRajendhran, employee of the Arcot EB, fell from an electric post near Arcot while checking a complaint, and died on Monday. Police filed a case.
