New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday stayed the grant of bail to A Raja's former private secretary RK Chandolia in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
Following the High Court's decision Chandolia will stay on in Tihar Jail.
The court will now hear Chandolia's bail plea in the 2G scam on December 7.
The court's decision came a day after the CBI Special Court granted bail to Chandolia in the 2G scam.
The CBI court even relaxed the conditions while granting bail to the former bureaucrat, accepting his fervent plea that he, being a moderately earning public servant, cannot furnish bonds of Rs 15 lakh for getting out of jail.
Special CBI Judge OP Saini, who has been accepting a personal and two sureties of Rs 5 lakhs as a pre-condition for bail from other accused, scaled down the amount to Rs 3 lakh for Chandolia.
"I was only a private secretary of A Raja. Searches have been carried out by CBI. No case of disproportionate assets case is against me. I was living on paltry government salary and now I am suspended. I would not only pray for bail
but the least amount of bail bond. I would be unable to pay Rs 5 lakh. I have a wife and two daughters of marriageable age at home," advocate Vijay
Aggarwal, appearing for Chandolia, said.
Earlier the CBI had moved a plea opposing his bail plea in the Delhi High Court.
