A 44-year-old man, Krishnan of Thamal Village, was found dead at his relative’s brick kiln at Sirukarampur junction near Ocheri in Kaveripakkam police station limits during the early hours of Wednesday.
Krishnan was crushed to death by a stone.
The brick kiln belonged to Krishnan’s relative Mani who was the chairman of Kaveripakkam block. Like all other days, he was sleeping at the kiln. An hour past midnight, Krishnan was discovered in a pool of blood by one Murali (24), a worker of an adjacent kiln, said Deputy Superintendent of Police of Arakkonam S Seetharaman.
The murderer had thrown a huge piece of stone on Krishnan. “Based on the preliminary inquiry into the murder, we are suspecting it was a case of murder for gain, as his bike was stolen from the spot,” said the DSP.
The murder would have taken place between 12.30 am and 1 am on Wednesday as he was seen alive around 12.30 am by one of the villagers of Sirukarampur, the DSP added.
Various aspects of the case were being considered by the police in course of the investigations to nab the murderer at the earliest, he added.
