75-year-old Man served restraining order for wooing 90-year-old Duchess.

London: A 75-year-old British pensioner has been served a restraining order for trying to woo 90-year-old Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, the surviving member of the famous Mitford sisters, a media report said.

Michael Andrews, who fell for the Duchess when he met and chatted with her while walking on her family's Chatsworth estate in November, was served the order by the Chesterfield Magistrates' Court for proposing to her and also bombarding her with phone calls, 'The Sun' reported.

The court passed the order after hearing how he had been told on several occasions by both the Duchess, widow of the 11th Duke, and her staff that she didn't want any contact.

The judge told Andrews of Stockton-on-the-Forest near York: "In particular you must not go on to Chatsworth Estate and not make any phone calls or send any text messages, or send anyone else to see her."

In fact, it all started when Andrews first met the Duchess in November and penned a proposal to her in the hope that they could "spend their final days" together. However, his feelings were not reciprocated and she politely asked her

staff to send a gentle reply declining his request.

But, subsequently, Andrews bombarded the Duchess's Peak District home with telephone calls, texts and loveletters pleading with her for a change of heart. And when they failed to work he began making personal visits, where he would stand outside her window proclaiming his love.

Finally the Duchess called the police to tackle her persistent admirer.

However, Andrews' defense counsel Colin Byrne said: "My client was sincere in his affections, but unfortunately they were not reciprocated."

What's your reaction?
