THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Scores of job aspirants are expected to make a beeline to the exam centres on Sunday when 19 public sector banks are conducting a common entrance test for the first time in the country. The written test for the post of probationary officers / management trainees will be held at six districts in the state.   The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is conducting the common entrance test.   The test will be conducted for Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Dena Bank, Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Indian Bank, Punjab National Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Overseas Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, Syndicate Bank, UCO Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India and Vijaya Bank.  The decision of 19 banks to conduct a common examination came as a boon to the job aspirants as they did not have to apply to each bank. Also they had to shell out only Rs 450 for the test.  Apart from Thiruvananthapuram, the other centres are Kannur, Kochi, Kottayam, Kozhikode and Thrissur.  Candidates who appear for the common written examination will be issued scorecards. Each bank will then carry out their own selection process for the final selection. The scorecard will be valid for one year. IBPS will conduct the test twice every year.  The common entrance test for the clerical post for 19 public sector banks will be held on November 27.
