After the mega success of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Alia Bhatt is all set to grace the silver screens again. This time, she has chosen a different role where she will be portraying the role of a sister who will have to save her brother, portrayed by Vedang Raina. The film will show her doing the action sequels and ever since the teaser launch, it has created a buzz in the city. In Pune, female fans of the actress are quite excited to see their favourite star in a strong role.
In an interview with Local18, female fans shared their excitement for the film. One of the fans said that she loved the teaser and is quite eager to catch the film in the theatres. She said, “Alia Bhatt’s script selection has always been unique.” Another fan joined in and said that even she loved the trailer but what makes it stand apart from other scripts is role reversal. Generally, men, especially brothers are shown to protect their sisters. But the fan points out that in this film, “It is a sister protecting her brother”. One fan said, “I am so excited. Alia Bhatt generally stars in romantic and Dabang (strong) films. But this time, it is an action film, where she will be doing the fight sequence. Also, her film will prove that once a sister has to protect her brother it means she has to have quite the “Jigra” (courage) to do so.
The teaser of the film opens with Alia Bhatt having a drink in a hotel and talking about her brother. She reveals how her mother died, following which her father died by suicide. Relatives offered them shelter, but it came at a cost. While talking, she refers to the person sitting opposite her as Mr Bhatia and says that her brother has very little time as she gulps down the drink. Her decision leads her to very dangerous paths where she has to fight, escape gunshots, prevent taking her own life and yet find a way to reach her brother. The teaser also shows a few glimpses of their past and happy memories.
Jigra is an action-packed prison-break thriller that centres on the relationship between siblings. Alia Bhatt takes on the role of Satya, while Vedang Raina plays her brother, Ankur. The film is directed by Vasan Bala, with a script by Debashish Irengbam and Vasan Bala. The film is slated to hit the theatres on October 11.
