Mumbai: After a six-year hiatus, lyricist Sameer and music directors Anand-Milind will be composing music together.

Having composed over 950 songs together, the trio will now be working on a Bhojpuri film called Sajan Sangh Laagi Laganiya Re.

The film is by production designer-turned-producer Kamlesh Kumar MPS and stars Ravi Kissen, Gunjan Kapoor and Kunal Singh.

Speaking about the music track, Kumar says, “We will record eight songs from March 20 onwards with Lata Mangeshkar, Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan and Sunidhi Chauhan. For the first time, all the songs will be recorded in Dolby Digital format.”

Sameer and Anand-Milind last worked together in Nitin Manmohan’s Chal Mere Bhai (2000) but parted ways due to ego clashes.

The cold war thawed only recently at Sameer’s book release function where the lyricist reminisced about his association with Anand-Milind.

One of the few long-standing musical trios in Bollywood, the team has belted some very popular hits in films like Dil, Beta, Prem, Dulhe Raja, Anaari and Hero No 1 among others.

“At the event, Sameer mentioned that he had written 950 songs with us and only around 400 with Nadeem-Shravan. I immediately messaged him saying let’s add another 50 and make it a thousand; it will be a record. He agreed promptly,” says Milind.

Sameer for his part, rejects all reports of any ego hassles within the team.

“We were busy doing independent projects and never managed to find time to work together. I am looking forward to working with them once again. In fact, we will also work on some Hindi films,” he reveals.
