The three minor boys, accused of allegedly gang-raping and killing an eight-year-old girl in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal earlier this month, had watched porn videos on mobile and tried to recreate the sexual assault on the victim, India Today reported citing the police.
The police have however arrested two male relatives of one of the three accused boys on Monday for concealing and destroying evidence. Nandyal superintendent of police Adhiraj Singh Rana said the father and uncle of one of the accused dumped the girl’s body into a canal.
On July 7, the boys, 13-17 years old, studied at the same school as the girl. They allegedly took her to an isolated place on the pretext of taking her to a new playground. Then they allegedly gang-raped the minor girl and then pushed her into the Mucchumarri Lift Irrigation Canal in Mucchumarri village.
According to police, the accused boys carted the minor’s body on a bicycle for some distance and then on a motorcycle to the backwaters of Krishna river with the help of the two men. Later, these men tied a stone to her body and dumped it in the canal.
“We arrested the two men on Monday and produced them in a local court which sent them on remand,” Rana said to news agency PTI, adding that the boys were also produced in a juvenile court. Police said the hearings are going on in the juvenile court and the boys could be sent to an observation home later.
On Tuesday, police reconstructed the crime scene and also zeroed-in on a particular search area to find the body. Six police teams, expert swimmers, dog squads, drone cameras, technical teams, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are searching for the body.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V Anitha has said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the minor girl.
