AP couple held for selling fake gold

PUDUCHERRY: A husband and wife duo from Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh was arrested by Muthialpet police on Wednesday following a complaint of cheating. Venkatapathy and his wife Angalammal gave “gold” plate to Prabhu of Lawspet saying that they had found it while digging the ground.The couple gave a tiny portion of the vessel for appraisal. Prabhu tested the portion with an appraiser, found it to be gold and paid them `2 lakh.But when he tried to sell the vessel, it came to light that it was made of brass. He then filed a complaint with Muthialpet police, who questioned the couple and arrested them.
