THIRUVANATHAPURAM: Former Technical Education Director Kuncheria P Issac has been appointed as the member-secretary of the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).The appointment has been made for the period of three years. Kuncheria retired as Director of Technical Education on March 31. He will be assuming charge of the new post on June 2. The appointment is for period of three years.The post of member-secretary is in the cadre of Additional Secretary in Central Government and Principal Secretary in State Government. He had served in various engineering colleges for 32 years. He had been instrumental in revamping the administration of the Directorate of Technical Education by introducing computerisation and training in academic and administrative areas.He also introduced several measures for achieving academic excellence in government engineering colleges and polytechnics which included use of Information Communication Technologies in imparting education, smart classrooms, digital library, K Base, course management System, e-content development, constituting academic committees, improving industry-institute interaction and establishment of Research Park.He was one of the main brains behind the establishment of the Centre for Engineering Research and Development in the State under the Department of Technical Education to give a fillip to research of faculty of engineering colleges.
