Bangalore: Bangalore Police arrested a 30-year-old ragpicker on Saturday for allegedly raping a minor girl in the north-eastern part of the IT city.
The 17-year-old girl is pregnant, said the police as they sent her for medical examinations.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Babool, a native of West Bengal; while the victim is a Mynammar refugee and also a ragpicker.
According to the police, the accused and the girl's parents had a dispute over some monetary issue. Following which the accused took the 17-year-old to a house in Varthur area of Bangalore and held captive for over two months.
The girl in her police complaint has said that she was repeatedly raped by the accused during this period. An FIR has been lodged and further investigation is on.
